What Fuelwise offers
Fuelwise is a fuel card supplier that has worked with Irish and UK businesses since 1989, with offices in Galway and Coleraine. It describes its own card, the Fuelwise Fuel Card, as "the leading fuel card for Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK", for businesses with "one vehicle or 100". Here's what Fuelwise says about the card:
- Network: over 6,400 fuel stations, including over 1,650 in Ireland and 4,800 in Northern Ireland and the UK, at brands such as Circle K, Maxol, Texaco, Top Oil, Esso, Applegreen, BP, Jet and Shell.
- Pricing: weekly prices sent by text or email. No contract and no obligation to use the card.
- Fees: €15 annual card fee per card after the first year, €4.95 per hard copy invoice, free electronic invoices (excluding VAT).
- Tools: free access to Velocity, its online account system, a dedicated account manager, PIN-protected cards and an online site locator.
- Also sells: a European Diesel Card, telematics and vehicle cameras.
People look for alternatives to compare prices, avoid the annual card fee, or find a card tied to the fuel brand they already use.

Frequently asked questions
What is Fuelwise.ie?
Fuelwise is a fuel card supplier for businesses in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK. It started in 1989 and has offices in Galway (Fuelwise Network Ireland Limited) and Coleraine (Fuelwise Network Limited). It sells its own Fuelwise Fuel Card, a European Diesel Card, telematics and vehicle cameras.
Where does the Fuelwise Fuel Card work?
Fuelwise says its card works at over 6,400 fuel stations, including over 1,650 in Ireland and a further 4,800 in Northern Ireland and the UK. Its site also covers the DCI site network in Ireland, where Fuelwise says Core sites give an extra 5c a litre saving compared with Non-Core sites.
What does a Fuelwise card cost?
Fuelwise publishes a €15 annual card fee per card, charged after the first year, plus €4.95 for each hard copy invoice (electronic invoices are free), all excluding VAT. Fuel is priced weekly; Fuelwise doesn't publish a set discount, so ask for a quote.
What are the alternatives to Fuelwise in Ireland?
The Irish fuel cards we compare are the Texaco fastfuel card, the Certa Fuel Card, the Inver Fuel Card and the Corrib Oil Fuel Card. All four say they have no card charges. Their networks range from 450+ to 1,900+ Irish sites.
Is a Fuelwise alternative cheaper?
Not always. The four alternatives say they charge no card fees, while Fuelwise charges €15 per card a year after year one. But the fuel price you pay usually matters more than card fees, and none of these suppliers publishes a fixed discount, so compare written quotes for your own litres and routes.
Which alternative is closest to Fuelwise for Northern Ireland and UK trips?
Fuelwise's main difference is its UK and Northern Ireland network. Of the four alternatives, only the Inver card talks about the whole island of Ireland, and none publishes a UK network on the pages we checked. If your vehicles cross to Great Britain often, Fuelwise or another UK-wide card may suit you better.
